Man pulled from Snake River, dead
JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Authorities say that a man pulled from the Snake River Sunday afternoon was pronounced dead at the South Park boat ramp. The man has been identified as James Kent Hobson, 62, of Jackson.
Hobson was with a party of boaters fishing the Snake when he fell overboard. He was not wearing a PFD.
CPR was performed by passersby and medical personnel from Search and Rescue. Hobson was pronounced dead at the scene.
County coroner Dr. Brent Blue ruled Hobson’s death accidental by drowning. Contributing factors to the victim’s death were inability to use left arm due to previous injury and no personal flotation device in use.
It makes the third casualty on the Snake River this season. Oliver Woodward, 21, died July 4. Chris Chapman, 48, died July 8.
